Today we’ll take a look at some of the Companions that can aid your Legend in Conan: Savage Legends.
In a game of Conan: Savage Legends, you get two Companions to fight alongside your Legend. Companions represent any number of powerful and interesting characters, from cunning mercenaries to curious wanderers, that your Legend may encounter and befriend. On the game board they are important pieces, second only to the Legends themselves in power. Here are a few examples of Companions that will be available to you in Conan: Savage Legends.
Techotl is a warrior of Xuchotl and was featured in the story Red Nails. In this story, Conan is a stranger to Techotl’s lands, and Techotl turns on his sadistic brethren to befriend the barbarian.
On the game board, Techotl increases both his own and your Legend’s combat ability when he is adjacent to your Legend. He may also force his opponent to reroll a die during a Clash. These two abilities make Techotl a powerful Companion when he is by your side!
Tascela is the immortal princess of Tecuhltli, who maintains her youth and beauty through the sacrifice of innocent children. She faces off against Conan in the story Red Nails, where she attempts to steal Valeria’s vitality.
On the game board, Tascela benefits at the expense of other characters. When a character near her is killed she gains additional health, and can even return a valuable Strategy card to your hand. With these two abilities, Tascela is the perfect character to place in the center of the action, so you can benefit from everyone that falls!
Volmana is a dwarf, and Count of Karaban. He encountered Conan in The Phoenix on the Sword, where he conspired to take King Conan’s throne. He was so eager to strike Conan down that he flung his co-conspirators aside to get into the fight.
On the game board, Volmana reduces his opponent’s defense when he attacks and he can advance after he wins a Clash. This makes him the perfect Companion to send charging headlong into combat!
Tolkemec is an escaped slave who ended up as one of the rulers of his city. He was overthrown and thought dead, but reappeared during the story Red Nails, where he emerges from the maze-like passages beneath his city where he had lived in secret and madness.
On the game board, Tolkemec may gain coins by turning on his allies! Additionally, if he is upgraded, he may choose to roll an additional die of his choice. Tolkemec is an incredibly versatile Companion, allowing you to gain Coins when no enemies are around and switch between types of dice!
Rinaldo is an idealist and a minstrel. He is one of the conspirators in the story The Phoenix on the Sword where he tries to overthrow King Conan. He uses his songs to sway the mood of the people against their king.
On the game board, Rinaldo may make a minion activate or allow your Legend to move to a more strategic location. While he has no particular bonuses to combat, Rinaldo is perfect for helping to boost or reposition your other characters!
Face of Nightmare
The deepest nightmares made flesh. The Face of Nightmare is the evil demon summoned by Thoth-Amon to destroy his former slaver Ascalante in The Phoenix on the Sword. The Face of Nightmare is a great black thing, born of no sane or human world, and appears as the deepest horror of those who look upon it.
On the game board, the Face of Nightmare can be upgraded so that it moves faster and ignores obstacles. Additionally, it can reduce the dice of those who dare to engage it in a Clash. If you would like an unstoppable monstrosity that hunts your foes as a Companion, the Face of Nightmare is the one for you!
