On the game board, Companions may be upgraded, spending coins to upgrade your Companions unlocks different options, need a little more punch? Give Gromel a bonus Axe Icon when attacking, or are you lacking a bit of protection? Give him a bonus Shield Icon when defending. As the battle wears on, and you need to change things up, you can give Gromel the upgrade you didn’t choose initially. This makes him a versatile combat piece, perfect for flinging headlong into the battle!
Epemitreus the Sage
Epemitreus the Sage is a long-dead prophet of the god Mitra. He first came to Conan in the story The Phoenix on the Sword in order to warn King Conan of the impending coup.
On the game board, Epemitreus can give your Legends a bonus Axe Icon during clashes, allowing him to aid your other characters from afar. Also, upon death, he becomes a Momentum card, which still continues to benefit your Legend. Just as the ethereal Epemitreus came to the aid of King Conan in the lore, so too can Epemitreus aid your Legend from the grave on the tabletop!
Baron Dion is the Aquilonian baron of Attalus. Another of the ‘Rebel Four’ in the story The Phoenix on the Sword, the wealthiest of the conspirators, Baron Dion funded the conspiracy against King Conan expecting to claim the Throne following the Kings death. During the coup he was banished to his estate, lest his cowardice give the plot away.
On the game board, Baron Dion allows you to discard your opponent’s coins, or even swap out Tactics cards for those you already used. While he may not be the ideal warrior, Baron Dion adds a level of tactical flexibility and cunning that may decide the battle!
Pallantides, commander of the Black Dragons, also introduced in The Phoneix on the Sword, where he and his Black Dragons remain loyal to King Conan in the midst of a deadly coup.
On the game board, Pallantides allows you to trade your Momentum for more dice on a single roll, letting you trade a steady bonus for a decisive, one-time boost. He may also improve the movement of your minions. Together, these abilities give Pallantides great tactical flexibility, which make him the perfect ally in a rapidly-changing battle!
